Motherboard / Chipset drivers?

After using nothing but nvidia chipsets for so many years, I finally bought an AMD 690G based motherboard. With nvidia, you can just go to their website and download the latest and greatest chipset drivers at any time. With ATI, I can't seem to find any drivers other than the ones from the mobo manufacturer. Am I missing something? Are you completely dependent on your mobo maker if you use an AMD/ATI chipset?
