Hi, when i boot my system, it tells me that it has failed a memory test. I cannot get into bios or anything else. I only see a black screen and none of the keyboard comands work. I didn't have a chance to create a back up
floppy so I dont have that. This happened after I changed the memory frequence in the bios to 150%. What should I do?

Thanks

Trying clearing the CMOS. Usually there's a jumper on the motherboard for that.

Yea, it sounds like CMOS needs to be cleared....easy to do with the jumper.. .

UNLess you have ASUS mobo, some of which don't have jumpers.....You gotta actually short out some solder points on the mobo where the jumber whould be.....sheesh what a PITA!

Tip: ALWAYS leave the memory at 100% of the FSB, it performs best that way ;)

Refer to page 8 of your manual for the location of the CLRTC1 jumper. Unplug the computer from the wall, switch the jumper to the alternate position for about 15 seconds, and then switch it back. Now plug the computer into the wall and see where you're at.

This one. :)

I suggest adjusting the multiplier down and the memory up, keeping your cpu at around stock speeds. Test your memory with memtest86 (prime too if you're feeling saucy) until you reach its limit. Then back off a notch and then crank up your multiplier, increasing voltage up to 1.85v in small increments if you have to, depending on your temps. Less than 60C under load is ok if your comp is stable. Good luck!
