I have an gigabyte b75m-hd3 board and I am thinking of returning that and getting an intel mAtx board.

If I change the motherboard do I need to install win 7 again or I can use the old installation?

I want to make sure there is no impact on the win 7 performance as the motherboard is going to change.

Performance will be exactly the same. And I dont think you need to reactivate Windows again, since I assume you replace it with another 7 series chipset.

But even then, reactivation is a simple thing. You dont need to reinstall.

My concern is, current windows installation has all of the software related to gigabyte board and if I just uninstall those and install the intel motherboard cd that would take care of it rite?

What about getting the board swapped to another B75M-HD3? Maybe your board is just defective and another identical board will work will your RAM properly?

I already got the Intel. I am going to install the board and use the same win 7 installation and just run the mobo CD.

Let me see if it goes fine.

It wont even boot and I kept getting windows could not login error. I had to reinstall win 7 again.
