motherboard and ram issue please help

ok one of the white clamps that holds the SDRAM in place BROKE OFF! now i just lost 128mb ram. i currently have 256, but i really want my ram slot back. is there somehow to still use that ram bank? or is there a way to fix it?

Did all of the white clip break off or just the 'ear.? If your memory still fits tight, I'd just ignore the broken clamp. You'll need to be careful when cleaning or doing anything inside the case as a casual bump might loosen the stick.

The purpose of the clip is more to help remove the SIMM, not to hold it in place. It should no be a problem unless you transport the PC to LAN parties etc. R.

I agree with RickH. I have 2 128MB and 1 64MB DIMM and they are not clamped down because my gigantic Voodoo5-5500 AGP card is in the way.

It should hold in place just fine. Just don't move it suddenly or hit it hard. Anyways, you'll know when the RAM doesn't post.
