Motherboard and Ram for E6400

Hi everyone, just ordered the E6400 for $249 total and wonder if it will much of a performance advantage based on the $27 price different from the E6300.

Also what MB and ram should I pair with? What do you guys think about the Asrock Dual?

I think you will be lucky to get over a 300MHz FSB on a ASRock. With that some DDR2-667 will be fine. I think a 965 mobo is better and CL4 DDR2-800.

thanks Conroe for helping... I guess I may not need much OC, so the upper limit of a Asrock Dual at 300 FSB will be good enough for now... (at least there's no wonder board that does well on OC and costs less than $150)

Now my concern like others is, do I need a Conroe? I just calculated that I can get a X2 3800+ and OC it to 3ghz and may still run faster then a Conroe running at around 2.5ghz... epecially I don't use it to play games... instead I only use it for multitasking... watching videos, downloading, surfing, buring CDs, cleaning up my system and virus scan all at the same time... sometimes decode DVDs... with that type of work... will an OC X2 be sufficient... or Conroe will still make a big difference? Thanks for help!

3ghz on an X2 may be pushing it unless you have some really good cooling.

Sorry, I never tried OC a X2 before and that's what I googled and see with people pointing out how much they can OC a X2...

so maybe at 2.6 is along the line of how well a X2 can normally OC on air and that's with a pretty decent MB, or some MB under $100 can do so?

2.4-2.6 is more realistic I'd say. Unless you are on a tight budget, I'd still go with a Core 2 Duo CPU.
