Hi, I am currently using a Dell Inspiron 530 with an Intel(R) Pentium (R) Dual CPU E2160 @ 1.80GHz

The Motherboard is a G33MO2

A friend wants to give me a processor, which is a Intel "Wolfdale" Core 2 Duo E8400 3 GHz Dual-Core (EU80570PJ0806M) Processor.

My first question is, will this processor work in the motherboard that I have as a replacement for the processor that I currently have?

If yes, my second question would be, if it would indeed work, would it be a significant enough upgrade in overall performance to do the upgrade?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Yes it will fit, yes the motherboard supports it and yes it should be a nice upgrade.

It would not just be a NICE upgrade, it would be a PHENOMENAL upgrade.. mostly thanks to the very strong cache more than anything else.

You're talking literally like 20-30 FPS jumps in CPU intensive games like GTA IV
