Motherboard almost set spark

Well let me start off how it began. I was loading into windows and it completely shut off. Then i saw the power led on the front blink twice. I thought this is weird so i open up my pc and everything is fine. So i plug the power back in the psu and here a noise like a beep but its not a beep. Very hard to explain. So i thought it was coming from the psu so i changed psu from my old one. The one i was using was a allied psu 500wat. Then after a few test it still wouldnt turn on. This is really pissing me off because the will probably be the second i time i have to rma my motherboard. So i plug my allied psu back in and i here the continuously screeching noise but i found out it was from the motherboard. I only plug in the 4 pin connector the the mb for the psu and no noise. I unplug the psu and plug in the 24pin connector and the noise comes back. So this may sound stupid but i wiggled the psu 24pin connector alittle bit and nomore noise! i turn it on and then i started smelling something. One of the components on the motherboard was turning bright yellow and look like it was starting to melt like the mb was shorting. I unplugg as fast as i can and its starts smelling like a spark had been made. Iam scared to plug it back in and try it again because i dont want to cause a fire with 1200 of components in there. The 24pin on the motherboard i guess was loose and i dont know what to do. I have a rs480 msi google it. Its a microatx form factor but i moved to a bigger case now. I was thinking just buying a better brand like asus or gigabyte. I can rma still but when i get it back i might just sell it on ebay. It didnt take out any of my other components and this would be the second time to rma. I just bought a 80 dollar mouse which i love the razer copperhead but i might return it and get a new mb. So what should i do from here. I can rma. How are the msi rma because my last rma was with zipzoomfly. Has anybody ever had this problem? Thanks for responding and looking.

Wow, use some paragraphs please.

I don't know if I would trust a power supply after burning something up. No sense risking burning your new stuff up. I would definately get a normal size ATX motherboard though since you have the room in your case. I have never had a direct RMA with MSI but someone here probably has.

Do not plug it back in unless you want to burn your house down.

So that means i have to buy a new psu and a mb. OMg i just spend more than 1000 on my pc and 400 more than i wanted to spend. Sorry about paragraphs just a little stressed and tried to give ppl as much info so they dont have to ask many questions. I dont think it was the psu fault but i think i could rma my psu.

Did you remember to put your motherboard on top of standoffs? Also, NEVAR try to run the stuff with only one of the power cables hooked up. They're not just for show.
