If you look at one side of the Lavender Pit mine you can actually see where they dug into some of the Copper Queen mine's tunnel system. It it hard to really grasp the size of these holes unless you are standing right on the edge.

The ASARCO mine south of Tucson also offers tours of their Mission Mine which are pretty neat.
