Starting a thread to update only A/V receiver deals. This should make it easy to locate for the best current deals.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BestBuy 4/6 - 4/12 in Bay Area, California - B&M only
Buy Yamaha HTR 5550 for 299 - 50 IR - 50 MIR (originally priced at 350)
PM to local frys which has it for 199. (4/11 - 4/15)(frys ad can be printed from www.bayarea.com)

Bay Area Frys add for BVG/PM
So final price should be 145 after MIR
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Outlaw 1050 for 500.0
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Onkyo TX-SR500, available for $199.95 with shipping and 1 year warranty (refurbished), no rebate hassles, no pricematch, is a better deal. (www.shoponkyo.com; login to see the reduced price). It's a better receiver, and the deal is easier.
And, in fact, unless you live near the noted "local Fry's" , the deal here for the yamaha is also $199 (plus tax; no tax on the Onkyo).

If you want to spend more, you can't do better for the money than the Onkyo TX-SR600 at shoponkyo.com. It's $311.75 shipped (refurbished) and it is a MUCH better package than the Yahama.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks sfox7076 & kwadguy from FW

Please let me know of any other receiver deals you guys come

If deal involves PM to Frys, please post that in title-many of us don't live anywhere near a Frys.

If your intention is to include all AV receivers, please post the appropriate title rather than one dealing with one specific model-don't try to have it both ways. Its a noble intention, but as presently written you are wasting other people's time.

If the title is not as specific as you want- don't click on the tread. Quit whining and bashing posters if everything isn't as perfect as you want it.
It seems people are too lazy to actually click a link and read the deal specs in the first post of a tread. Pussies.

Its not a matter of being a "title nazi" or somesuch flaming. Its about showing common courtesy in posting by following the posting conventions. Does it make sense to you to waste dozens, maybe hundreds of people's time reading a thread they can't possibly use when the original poster could have easily avoided the problem by adding "PM Frys" in the title? Its not THAT hard to do, is it?

Is that mail-in rebate specific to the bay area BestBuy stores? If not, and someone could find/post/scan it for the rest of us, you can get this for $169 + tax AR just by using Amex BVG. Buy it online from BestBuy.com for $299, then BVG PM it to etronics for $219.

Bzzzzt, wrong the thread title that you chose is specific the Yamaha HTR 5550 for 145 deal. Now, I could see your point if the thread title was generic "A/V receiver deals here" but it isn't. The appropriate thing to do is complete the title for this existing thread, by elaborating on the detail regarding Best Buy B&M and PM.

Nice find, BTW!

I vote in favor of the title. I came in looking for several deals and lo and behold, that's what I found. It's a consolidation thread like many of the others around..memory, media, xbox, etc. But then, I always did well in reading comprhension. :p

Why should the title include 'PM Frys'? This post is for all receiver deals, and not all of them, maybe none of them, at the time will PM to a frys store. Why cant someone just read the deal and if they see that it requires a PM to Frys, they can figure out if they are able to take advantage of the deal or not.

I have been lurking around for deals on Receivers, and I see every now and then some popup. If we have a consolidated thread, it makes it easier to choose the best receiver based on deal/price criteria.

So this is the thread, whether someone likes it or not. I think it should be useful for someone like me.

Incase you guys want to pickup floor standing stereo speakers today, for Bay Area folks
Polk Audio R30 speakers are on sale for 149 in frys for a PAIR. Buy it from CC and PM it to frys. The price should drop even less.

He's added more deals, so the title is now appropriate. Originally, there was only one deal, which was the source of the request for a edit of the title.

the speakers are pretty clear, lots of highs not bad bass, but the highs do over power. I would say they are good for a small system with a sub. Pretty good for the price though. You can't really go wrong with 135 dollar floor standing speakers.
