Mother in law got T-Boned in an intersection this morning

the old protege held up pretty good to a big dodge ram hitting it in the passenger side front fender/door at about 60mph

EDIT: Inquiring minds want to know:

She is doing well, discharged from hospital after a couple of hours. Has a broken pelvic ring however, needs a walker to get around. she's only in her mid 50's and healthy, but a very tiny woman

I'll draw up a quick intersection in paint for you guys too, gimmie a sec

EDIT 2: OK I couldn't do it in paint so I drew it horribly and scanned it in. She had a green left turn arrow, he just ran the red light. We assume the turn lane next to his straight lanes turned a green arrow and he absentmindedly thought his light went green. You know you've all seen asshats take off then slam brakes when they are stopped and the turn lane next to them turns green. hope you understand it...

Intersection

I don't consider compromising the passenger compartment by 10" holding up pretty good, but then again I guess a Ram at 60 mph will do that.

What is the normal side impact test speed?

60mph? damn

looks to be about 20-25 max. glad she's OK though. t-bone accidents are bad.

20-25 max? to bend the frame of the car? have you ever been in or seen an accident? I was driving a 1989 Sentra and T-Boned a guy in a late 80's Camaro in nearly the exact same car location (front passenger fender, passenger door) while driving around 60mph, the damage on his Camaro was comprable to this damage

Where the hell do they put four way intersections that have 60MPH speed limits?

BTW, that car doesn't have any frame, and it shows!
