ST. LOUIS, MO — The mother of a Ladue High School student took her case to the federal courthouse after her son, called John Doe in legal documents, did not make the varsity soccer team and was not allowed to play on the J.V. team.

The woman’s attorney said the issue is age and sex discrimination. Friday morning Ladue school officials said if a junior does not make the varsity team, the boy cannot play again on the junior varsity team. The school said this is to allow lower grade students a chance to develop their skills so that they will be prepared to try out for varsity.

The mother of a Ladue junior who did not make the varsity cut does not think that’s fair. She believes her son, who already played on the J.V soccer team, is good enough to play again on the same team.

Good job mom, now you're kids gonna get his arse whipped. Sports crazy culture which in and of itself is fine, but we are the only place in the world that ties them into schools as much as we do. Anywho, it's a break from Kavanaugh. :beermug:

Who'd want to be on JV as a junior? I'd be too embarrassed and would probably just quit and do something else. And to try and get your mommy to make it better? Lol.

Kinda sucks if you are a junior there is nowhere to develop to try and get on varsity at least Sr year. Not the way it was done in my school.

Federal lawsuit tho? WTF

The school will settle and create a varsity team that's between the other two. The lad in question will be the star player on a team that will end the season undefeated (because they never played).

Upon dismissal of the suit the judge should advise the youngster to spend more time studying and less time on sports.

The high school my nephews were going to, the head coach of the football team would put some of the good varsity players on the JV team as ringers so they'd win the games. IIRC even with doing that (and having a substantially higher number of players than the other team), they still lost a game and he was so pissed he walked off the field before the end of the game. Of course this was a coach that let a high profile hazing case (like 6 players said that a group of other players would hold them down in the locker room and they'd stick markers up their ass), so you know, one of those "old school coaches".

This kid will be living at home with his mommy at 50. Parents mean well, but what they are doing is setting they children up to fail. What's this kid going to do if he doesn't get that job, go on that date, not get the raise? Is he going to sue? Sorry.

Life doesn't work like that.

does anyone know the minimum cost for someone to file a federal lawsuit, have it heard by a judge, and rule it denied?

though to be a junior associated with mommy filing a lawsuit because he didn't make the team is priceless

What idiot risks good varsity players health to win a JV game? And doesn't the high school league in your state have rules against this? I seem to remember the league putting a limit on the number of quarters a player was a allowed to play in a game week.

"Sports" parents can be insane.
Doesn't matter what their politics are.
They get detached from reality.

Give them disposable income and and lawyer and they will pull shit like this.

I've always heard club soccer is where you actually need to be to get noticed by colleges any way. If it is important enough to sue over, I think it would be important enough to pay for club.

Can't the kid just join some non-school affiliated league after school? There has to be at least one.

Soccer Parent - "My kid needs to get on the team and ya gotta make sure they play so the colleges can see them!!!!"
Me - I guess that's the only way your kid is getting into college.

Probably the kind of idiot that allows rampant hazing.

The right to file a lawsuit is protected in the 1st amendment. Why does the OP hate the 1st amendment?
