Mother Board Type?

Hey everyone, I have a Dell Dimension 3000 and want to replace the motherboard. I want to make sure that the p4 Processor is actually a 478 first. The Motherboard is an e210882. Is this definitely a 478 MB; do they make Pentium 4 3.06ghz motherboards in any other format?

Only Socket 478.

That does still leave open the question of whether a non-Dell motherboard will work in your case. Some Dells use a non-standard location for the screws holding the board to the motherboard.

Guys in Tech Support forum said it might be 423 since they found some ebay gateway ones...I guess Ill just have to take it out and check the slot markings

The fastest Socket 423 processor ever made was 2.0 GHz. Additionally, your chip has a FSB of 533 MHz, and processors on Socket 423 never made it above a FSB of 400 MHz. And lastly, CNet identifies the Dimension 3000 as being Socket 478.

It's straight-up not Socket 423.
