I'm switching an AOPEN AX6C-L for a Gigabyte GA-6VX-4X. Can I do a straight swap considering the chipset differences? I prefer not to take my HD to zero and start over again. What's the best way to do this without causing computer havoc when intel 820 drivers and VIA 133A drivers live on the same HD. I will be sticking in a 800MHZ 128 MEG RDRAM also, and P!!! 733 FCPGA on adapter card to replace a P!!! 600 FCPGA similarly mounted. I'm running 98SE now, contemplating moving to WIN ME after the swap is settled and running.

Best bet is to load the whole system over again after replacing the motherboard. If you really don't want to do that then go into properties, device manager and delete everything -- make note of what irq,etc and make sure you have the drivers -- be especially sure to delete everything under system devices. As you delete something do not reboot until finished. (it may be possible to delete only the system device section and controller but best to do it all). replace the board and reboot. System should find everything needed (empahsis on should, but don't count on it). Load winme on top -- Have fun!!
