Need some help with a mobo for the following system

E6600 Core2 Duo
CORSAIR XMS2 DOMINATOR 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
Seagate Baracuda 7200.8 400gb
Creative XI-FI
2x EVGA 7800 GTXs in SLI mode (MOBO must be able to use SLI)
Enermax EG495P-VE (24P) (is this enough for the duo?)
Liteon DVD-RW

i am increasingly concerned about the 680i and its myriad of problems that range from it not being able to post at all to frying memory. I'd am interested in finding out two things

1) what is the current consensus in this forum on the 680i...bad/good and why?

2) If not the 680i what? Anyone here reccomend the 650i for SLI?

I am in the same boat as you. While the latest bios fixes seem to have largely solved the 680i issues, i am still concerned about quality (especially the heat the thing throws out).

I am now waiting until the first week of feburary to make my final choice.
But,as of now, i have pretty much been convinced that the asus p5b-deluxe would be the way to go ...forget about sli or crossfire... This would mean i would proabably have to go the pci route for a physics solution.

Gary, on this forum, said to go with the badaxe 2. Yet, there are a few minor quirks on that board also. The RD600 should be around mid. January. And finally the revision boards and dfi's 680i solution should be showing up in a month or so (although given the delay with the rd600 --dfi may still be a long way out).

All this waiting comes at a large cost though --5 months so far for me -
It would be quite ironic if i did get a p5b deluxe after all this time of waiting for something better 🙂
