I have a Sager NP8880 laptop. Recently the laptop broke so I sent it into the company. They are saying that the motherboard is broken and it will cost me $440 just for the motherboard. This is too much for me to spend. This model uses a P4 s478 (non mobile) processor. I'm pretty sure the rest of the components are standard laptop connections...should I think otherwise?

Basically I need to figure out what other laptops use a non mobile p4 s478 processor. I don't care what brand of motherboard it is or what system it originally goes with. I will build a case myself and make it a desktop if need be. If anyone else has a laptop with this processor or knows a laptop with this processor, please reply. Or better yet if you have a sager np8880 or compatible motherboard, I will buy it as long as it isn't too expensive.

Okay, I decided to go with a more efficient plan. I am just going to sell my laptop. I just need some suggestions from honest people before I throw a post ont he For Sale/Trade weboard. This link will take you to a bunch of choices. On bottom is a link for NP8880. If you click it, you can look at some of the specs.

Some things not mentioned or some things that are incorrect. It has a P4 2.2gig non-mobile s478 processor, full numeric keypad, mp3 player/SD reader, built in modem, 40 gig 4200rpm (I think that's the speed), and DVD-Rom/CD-RW drive among other things. Everything works (to my knowledge) except the motherboard. The computer has been used for 2 years now.

My first question is should I sell the laptop as is? Or should I sell the parts seperately? Also if any of you would be kind enough, could you possibly make some estimates on prices? I have no clue and searching for parts similar to these were difficult at best. Thanks in advance.
