Holy hell. Per my "Raccoons!!!" thread here:
http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2100917

I bought some mothballs and spread half a box out under my deck.
So now I'm left with half a box that I figure I would just seal up in a heavy duty zip-lock freezer bag and put in the basement for future application. Went downstairs to change the laundry an hour or so later and HOLY CRAP... entire basement wreaks of mothballs. Bag is ZIPPED TIGHT. How do I stop this odor!?!?!?!?

I dunno, ask them to put their legs together? How did you get their tiny little legs apart in the first place?

Naphthalene is an awesome aromatic compound. Not nearly as lifting and foul as creosote (although the draft from vat treated pylons is fairly desirable) and very clean. Never musky or overbearing unless you are eating them in which (if you are human) will degrade your health rather quickly.

Try spreading some mothballs around. It'll absorb the smell.

Haha that's like poking one of those fake firelogs (Duraflame?) mid burn to put it out! It will flare like a mad hatter sans thorazine.

One of my fondest childhood memories.

No idea if it has cleared out the 'coons yet. I tossed some sand down by their exit/entrance to see where they are headed. Bunch of ammonia rags by their door too. I'm waging chemical warfare.

Don't store the napthalene inside, unless you don't love your children.
