motem problems

My computer kicks of line every 3 to 5 min.
My brother inlaw who bilt the computer told me that it could be the motem
I have a Conexant Soft k 56 Data Fax Speaker Phone PCI Modem
Anyone know where do you get up grades for this modem on line.
I already ajusted the the the thing to not go off line with no use.

Before trying to upgrade modem, try to change
your provider for another... have yet seen some
providers who kick u after 2 min! :-(
Be sure your modem is not on the first PCI slot too,
cause this slot is shared with AGP and can add problems
when using the new extra com added by the modem.
