In my entire life, I've met 4 women, just 4, who regularly went to the gym and got a decent workout for themselves. I admire these women more than I do most men who work out, because they have broken out of our society's norm and taken a road that is awfully lonely for women. "Whatever do you mean, Ned?" you might be asking yourselves. Well, I'll be glad to tell you.
I mean that the vast majority of women who go to the gym are just wasting their time. I get sick and tired of seeing women (and a lot of men, too) come in, do one set of five with 12 pounds on every machine in the place, then leave after a whopping 15 minutes. These are the same chicks who like to say "I work out at the gym every day, but I just can't lose the weight." Let me give you a little advice, sister: one set of dumbell curls with 3 pound weights isn't doing jack for your fat butt, and it isn't going to offset the three twinkies and half gallon of Yoohoo you had for lunch.
They will counter "But Ned, I don't want to bulk up and look all muscley." Believe me, with the dismal excuse of a workout that you just did, you have more hope of spontaneously sprouting horns than you do of gaining rippling muscles. Plus women don't seem to get this one fact: women don't bulk up. Sure, there are female bodybuilders who are ripped, but how often do you actually see these chicks? If it was easy to look like them, all sorts of women would do it.
How many times have you seen a woman in the gym work themselves to the point that their shirt is drenched with perspiration? It just doesn't happen. Now think about all the guys in there - lots of them are simply dripping from every pore. Women's bodies retain more water and have a higher fat content than men's, so where is the sweat? It should be there, but it isn't because they haven't done anything to deserve a good sweat.
Bottom line: women just don't push themselves in the gym. Call it a lack of endurance, a lack of desire, or an intolerance for pain, but very few and far in between are the women who will exhaust themselves on weights or even on cardio.
