Most WMV Videos appear in neon colors -- fix for this?

Has anyone ever had a problem where WMV movies will appear in neon colors? Disabling hardware acceleration of graphics will fix this, but also results in poor video performance.

A while ago I built a new PC, and the only component that was the same in both systems was the graphics card (ATI Radeon 9800 Pro)....so I believe this must be the culprit somehow, or its software

In ati control panel reset all the color settings. Sounds like you took the gamma up to max with each one...or a buster codec

If you are running WMP9, there are known issues with WMV playback. Updateing to WMP10 (or the new WMP11beta) fixes the issue.

Otherwise, it sounds like a driver issue. What driver version are you running? Might want to update if you haven't already.

Also, make sure you are running the latest video drivers for your card. The video drivers usually are the main issue. You will get a lot of green and pink-red outlines around black blocks that look like a solarized negative or just a green screen.

Edit - Codec issues can show up as lots of shifting square blocks, black with white blocks, or color bands like an old TV with the hold way off.
