Most versatile actors?

Tom Hanks is arguably the best actor of our time, but without question he has to be the most versatile actor in all his different roles.

Who comes at #2 then? The first person that comes to mind would be Johnny Depp. From Edwards Scissorhands, to Pirates of the Carribean, Blow, Finding Neverland, to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, he's played very different roles in his career, but he's managed to be oustanding in all of them.

I'd say Johnny Depp is the most versatile actor today. I hardly recognize him from one movie to another, up until recently I wasn't even aware that it was one person playing in all those different movies. Big thumbs up, really talanted actor.

PS I'm actually watching Sleepy Hollow right with Johnny Depp right now...

Tom Hanks sucks.

Harrison Ford is the greatest actor alive. Anyone who says differently is a fool.

Point missed.

Ford's very good, but notice the similarities among his roles. That's not versatility.

I'm not counting Sabrina either. I'm counting his good roles.

Sabrina with Ford was one of the greatest movies ever.

Ditto my post about Harrison Ford.

Dude, Arnold was in a billion movies about blowing things up, for decades. Then he decides to be in a movie where he gets pregnant. If THAT isn't versatility, I don't know what is.

😉

Well, in that case, I concede! 😀

Morgan Freeman, one of the best actors of all time

but he's not that versatile. He plays the same role everytime. The role of hte older wise man who knows it all.

I agree with Tom Hanks being one of the best versatile actors in recent times. Although I don't think Johny Depp fits that role. He is a great actor, but all his roles have always been him playing an offbeat character.

I think we will find Christian Bale to be an very good actor who can play versatile roles. He was exceptional in Batman Begins, American Pyscho, and the Machinist.

Sir, do you realize you were doing flamboyant in a straight & normal gay zone? I'll need to see your man-card and confirm your testicular ownership.

Russell Crowe is 2nd to Morgan Freeman

Russell Crowe is rather one dimensional, even if his roles have been on different extremes. The way he plays people are always the somewhat timid, soft spoken person, but not someone you want to mess with.

How would you confirm ownership? Manually? Wouldn't that violate the zone?

Would you ask him to turn his head and cough? Then cough harder?

It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it... and Johnny Depp wasn't qualified, though he did apply for the position seventeen times and offered to take extra-credit training courses...

You forgot Christian Bale in Equilibrium.
