Most Valuable Cracker Contest: Year 5

Once again, another TA birthday rolls around(who would have thought 5 years ago that we'd even survive to be able to say another?), and once again its time for our biggest festivity of the year, the annual Most Valuable Cracker contest.:D As our first half-decade in buisness comes to an end comes to an end, it's now our chance to recognize those who have given their all to Team AnandTech in this past year to make the team so sucessful, and to celebrate that sucess.

As history goes, the MVC contest was estabilished at the end of the first year year in order to honor those that put forth all the energy they could for TA; by doing such things as cracking an amazing amount of WU's for TA, organizing new members, or even someone who provides moral support; the conditions are endless.:) So, these people are honored by bestowing the titles of Most Valuable Cracker, and 9 other Highly Valuable Crackers.

This award(won by Smokeball last year) is handed out as early as possible on Dec. 26(upon which time voting ends); TA's birthday, to which the HVCs get a day's worth of WUs in whatever project from myself from myself(and a week's worth for the MVC), along with any other blocks that come from other member's admiration.;)

The rules for voting go like this: Each member of Team Anandtech is entitled to 5 votes, where none can be for themself. Each vote is fully equal, and order doesn't matter. You may vote for anyone that's a TA member, and listing a reason for that vote is reccomended, in order to get more people to vote that way.;)

Also, you retain the right to change your vote any time between now, and when the contest results are annouced. The person with the most votes wins the title of MVC of Year 5; whereas the 9 closest runner-ups each get the title of HVC.

Being chosen as a MVC or HVC is considered a great honor by most, so pick carefully.:Q Good luck to everyone, and here's to a happy birthday for Team Anandtech!:D

PS Anyone wanting to do a secret ballot can email/PM their votes to me, and I'll add them to a tally and delete the email accordingly

PPS So if Ray was already an old man 5 years ago, what does that make him now?;)

In no particular order (other than alphabetical):

Crazee: For taking over the job of welcoming of new members to Seti
DanC: For being a "1 man DC" for DPAD and keeping TA up there in the rankings
DannyBoy: He started the "Confused for Elite" bandwagon ;) Also always there, bugging me, getting under my feet behind the scenes with stats etc for SoB (but in a good way)
MereMortal: For writing/updating daily stats and race scripts for many projects. Without him many teams wouldn't have daily stats!
Smoke: For his work earlier in the year for welcoming all new members to Seti, and for taking over the weekly stats from OK

That's my votes at the moment...will see whether I change my mind any time before the 26th ;)

There are many others that deserve a vote. Five votes seems too few. :(

Oh this is so hard.

Difficult to decide....

Smoke - Commander and Chief
OhioDude - Solid Race Dedication
Hellburner - Solid Daily Stats Dedication
Crazee - Roll's out the welcome mats every single day!

...

Final vote (after thought)---> The entire TeAm AnandTech DC community (yes, every person in every project). Nobody left out as you all deserve it! :)

Space reserved for future edits....

Thanks ViRGE! :)

I'm going to pass on this vote for now. With all of the projects and all of the great people involved in them it is too hard to pin it down to just 5 names without leaving off so many deserving members.

Not enough votes but here goes...

Smoke - Because he is a great leader and has rallied the troops over the last hill!:D

Ohiodude - If it were not for the racing thread I probably would not of ever of produced so many units.

TeAm BnT - Unreal amount of increased output over the last year!

Holding the last two trying to sort out the list.... Hmmm so many deserving yet so few....

This is difficult to decide, but here it goes:

Smoke - Greg has devoted so much time to this team. He is a heck of leader. :)
Confused - Garry has really become quite a leader himself pushing the SoB Team to #1 :)
Robor - Rob is still the number 1 guy in my books even though the merger with Smoke and myself has put us at the top of the list. Many people don't know the devotion and energy Rob puts into the Team :)
Engineer - Robert is our adrenaline glands. Whenever we need a push he there :)
CyGoR - Marcel came to TA and stuck with us despite some trying times and now he is leading the push to get the UD TeAm in the top ranks :)

If you weren't being sarcastic, I was thinking the same thing... otherwise nominations will most likely be weighted heavily towards the project with the most participants (read: SETI) while there are other very deserving candidates that have kept some teams alive while attention was directed elsewhere (Slapstick/Shame in D2OL for example, and others, I'm sure, but I am fairly myopic when it comes to DC projects, so I can't give credit where credit is due)...

Been quite busy lately, so I'm gonna need a little time to think about this. Others have pointed out, rightly so, that there are SO MANY members of TA that are deserving of the recognition, that it's hard to nail down just five.

So I'll post my thoughts a little later.

Smoke - Does a LOT for the SETI TeAm!
networkman - Rich has helped in MANY different DC projects. His versatality and crunching power have helped TA to shine across the board.
hellburner - For his years of dedication to the SETI TeAm.
Ohiodude - For taking time to organize all those race threads I see...and besides, OHIO roxors!
CyGoR - Here's a guy that has stuck with the TeAm through adversity because he believes in us.

Well here goes:

Adul - For the publicity on the front page (its about time) that have brought many new members to many of the projects.
BCinSC - For resurecting the Find-A-Drug team. Also he will son be #1 in FAD.
Meremortal - I vote for him every year because I can't remember a year when he hasn't helped me a lot. I would list all the projects he has written stats scripts for but they are too many. Also you will find his name on the members list for many projects.
Confused - Of course I have to vote for him. His stats and encouragement led the Seventeen of Bust team to #1.
mastertech01 - Just because he's one of my all time favorite teammates.:)

I'll get back to you on the last one.

No sarcasm at all. That's exactly what I was thinking. Every project has it's MVC's....and I didn't want any of them to be overshadowed by SETI or any other. Just because I (or anyone else) doesn't recognize some of the other leaders of the other projects doesn't mean that they aren't the MVC there. Not sure how to set such a thing up...but it would be nice.

I have been thinking a lot about this. Maybe we could limit the votes to 1 or 2 per project. That way we get a better spread of votes. I found my votes were biased towards SETI when there are plenty of other well deserving people out there. Especially after reading some of the other votes and reasonings.

Is there an easy soluton to this?

Many more should be on this list but the limit is five :(

Thanks to all who contribute here and elsewhere for the good of TA. Many people run projects for TA but never reallly hang out here. Lots of time and effort go un-noticed and I would like to once again say THANKS to ALL!
