zippy,

The Chemical Brothers changed their name from The Dust Brothers so that they would not be confused with the Dust Brothers who produced the Beastie Boys as well as other groups. They are still an excellent group though.

jonnyGURU,

The Poppies and that sorry ass group limp wristed do not belong in the same sentence.

Bullshot yakko. You know it's true. Even if Limp Bizkit is lame, they still try to imitate the Poppies. No one said that they imitated them "well", but the influence is CLEARLY there.

I don't deny the imitating. I just don't think they should be in the same sentence.

zippy,

Don't worry I made the same mistake until I found an article telling me why the changed their name. Up until that point I had only heard that it was changed for legal reasons.

How about one of the all-time classic, gets no respect picks? Alice Cooper. 20 years ahead of his time.

Creed has got to be the most overrated band. Creed is Christian Rock, which alot of people dont realize.

just because it's christian rock doesn't mean it sucks... mortification is an excellent christian metal band. but i do agree, creed sucks a fat one and they're probably among the biggest dicks in the music industry right now. shlt on your fans and soon they'll leave you... creed will be gone in 6 months.

i have another group to add to my list.... devo...

When I was younger, I listened to:

Savatage
Queensryche
Faith No More
Joe Satriani
Scatterbrain

I wasn't really a metal head, though. Too much of a princess. ;) I just like good music.

A friend of mine who knew the brothers told me Chris had died. He did seem set to self-destruct. Very sad.

Defintely the Barenaked Ladies. People still treat them as something of a flukey success, and consider all their songs gimmicky instead of real music. My vote goes out to them.

Okay, I admit, I'm a little biased here. I went to the same school and lived about a block away from them for ten years (cool but weird guys).

Some bands nobody ever seems to have heard, but everybody likes when I play them for them: Pretty Maids, Tyketto, Waysted, Harlow, Hardline, Tora Tora and Marillion. (Yes, I am a child of the 80's :) )

Ilsa, if you want to hear something a little different sometime, pick up a Christmas album by a band called Trans Siberian Orchestra. It is the brainchild of the Oliva brothers, very good not all that heavy either. (They also just realeased a rock opera that is pretty good.)

Wilsoncat, I have a funny thing with Dream Theater, I either really like their albums, or really dislike them. Kind of weird, I bet they are awsome to see live, definitely some energy there!

anyone that listens to Dream Theater knows they are easily the most underrated band, they are pretty incredible, download "home" and "fatal tragedy" if you are interested.
