What are the most threaded video games?

Not CPU intensive games, but games that are actually known to spread across 4-8 threads...

I assume the DirectX11 exclusive titles are a good start for finding these types of games, but even many of those games run mostly on 2 cores, 4 max...

COD AW seems to make good use of the 8 threads of an i7. Watch Dogs seems to be optimized pretty badly, but it scales to 8 threads.

Yeah, the high profile graphics focussed titles like battlefield and crysis seem to benefit most.

Anyway, it's hard to tell, as workloads are often moved from one core to the next to get better thermals or something, if I start a single thread of prime95 it'll show as if it's spread to all the cores evenly. You'd have to do extensive analysis of performance with different cpu's and settings to find out what games do it well.

Also, splitting up a task can introduce more overhead, apparantly sometimes it's better to not do it, even though it looks nice when a game scales well to lots oh cores.

I wouldn't look at the game, so much the engine that it runs on.

Several engines are very well threaded. CryEngine 4, Frostbite 3, Disrupt, AnvilNext, Unreal Engine 4 etcetera..

All of these engines will scale to 8 threads. The only difference is, depending on the type of game that is running on them, you may not get performance increases from those additional threads.

Why? Because some games just don't need that many, and the developers didn't make the game to use all 8 threads.

Off the top of my head, the only games I know that will get a performance increase from 8 threads are Watch Dogs and Ryse Son of Rome. Most other current gen games use 6 threads effectively, and not 8..

CryEngine 3/4 and Frostbite 3 will scale beyond 6 threads. By scale though, its rather minimal. Its not like a 5960X will have a fat old difference over a 5930K/5820K (yet anyway).
