Most stolen cars

GasX

Lifer
from here...

interesting tidbit:

The CCC's most-stolen vehicles for 2002 are as follows:

1989 Toyota Camry
1991 Toyota Camry
1990 Toyota Camry
2000 Honda Civic Si
1994 Honda Accord EX
1994 Chevrolet C1500 4X2
1995 Honda Accord EX
1988 Toyota Camry
1994 Honda Accord LX
1996 Honda Accord LX

OK, there are a billion Camrys and Accords out there, but for owners of 2000 Civic Si's, it has got be be pretty scary. 4th on the list and it is a limited edition car! I bet their is a healthy after market for parts!!

If Ford is the #1 selling truck in America, why don't they come remotely close to being the most stolen (for parts, etc.) ? You'd think that's why these cars are up on the list...

Ease of theft is also a factor. You'll notice that almost all the cars on that list were manufactured before anti-theft systems and transponder keys became standard equipment.

Our '90 Accord has anti-theft... anyone who didn't get it stock should at least have gotten it installed since like '92. But I can see your point... my dad's old 89 Accord was such a POS it didn't deserve anti-theft.

bwhahahaha, if they want your car, they'll take it whether it has anti-theft or not.

^ there's no way I'm doubting that, but to at least hear the alarm go off is better than someone taking it without any incident. Same goes for a theft deterrent device like THE CLUB... just a deterrent... why make it easy for them ?

as far as theft deterrents go, i think the one that goes on the brake pedal or clutch one works.
Club is a joke and so is an alarm.
There are so many false alarms on cars these days, that people don't even bother checking.

Err, the alarm would be good for parking in your own driveway. Chances are if it goes off in the driveway, the guy will bolt.

you're aware they make alarms that page you from a distance ? It woulda helped in '85 when we were in a restaurant and someone broke into my dad's Cutlass out in the parking lot and stole his radio... the dude must've had an hour to take it...

You're just desensitized yourself... doesn't mean they are completely useless.
