Most stable Ti4200 driver

Hey,

Just wondering what the opinions would be on NVidia's most stable driver for the GeForce4 Ti4200. I have heard that sometimes the latest drivers will offer better performance but aren't always the most stable. Windows Update has an older driver listed from October of 2003. Is this just because Windows Update doesn't stay up to date with drivers, or does microsoft consider this to be the most stable WinXP driver for the Ti4200?

Matt

I've heard that that 50.xx drivers (and later) are optimized for the newer FX line of cards, and it's best to stick with the 44.xx or 45.xx drivers for the Ti4200/4400/4600 line of cards.

I used one of the 44.xx WHQL drivers with my 4200 for a long time and didn't have a single problem.

Thanks,

I think the one Microsoft lists is the 45.33... The last of the 4x.xx drivers.

I'll give it a try. I use the system strictly for video editing so 3D performance isn't all that important compared to stability.

44.03 and 43.45 are generally the two most popular. I've used both and played newer games like Doom3 and Far Cry with no problems on my ti4600. They give me better benchmark results and in-game performance than the 5x.xx drivers.

to be honest, i've downloaded my fair share of NVIDIA drivers, and never once had a problem with any of them.

i wouldn't hesitate to recommend downloading whatever is on their website!
