Most Silent but cheap PSU?

I think the Antec Neo-ecos are good. There is a 520 and a 620. I have built a system with the 620 myself and it was very quiet I thought. Newegg just ran a deal with a 620 with a 10 dollar off code that made it about 30 bucks after rebate but they are out of stock now I guess the code expired right at the end of august. I see it going on sale pretty often though I paid around 50 shipped for mine and still considered it a great deal.

My PSU is the quietest thing in my system. That said, this unit by Kingwin got good reviews:

A fanless PSU renders it completely silent (usually); however, these power supplies generate a good deal of heat, so you'll need efficient (often loud) fans to cool your case. One way or the other, you gotta move that warm air. The site I linked has a good many reviews of all kinds of PSUs, but their recommendation lists are dated.
 
The fanless PSUs mean they are very high quality high end PSU's with superb efficiency rating which is how they are able to be fanless. They also cost like $120-$150. Heh.

Kingwin seem to be great PSU's based on the reviews, but damn, even the 550watter fanless model is like $140.

I am in the middle of trying to buy a PSU myself. I find myself wishing I would have bought that antec neo eco for $30AR but...too late now.

Right now I am deciding between the Corsair builder CX600 V2 which is like $45 AR, the xfx core 550watt which is 80 plus bronze certified for $60AR or the corsair 650watt which is 80 plus bronze for $66AR.

I dont really know what to buy. The corsair builder says it has a 5 year warranty on newegg but on corsairs site they say 3 year so that has stumped me.

I am really not all that experienced when it comes to PSUs so I dont know which of the above would be the quietest.

The XFX might be the best out of the bunch. Seasonic unit FTW!

OP: Most PSUs are generally the quietest thing in a machine [your video card is louder, a 120mm fan is louder, unless it's a Noctua]. If you really want a fanless one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151099
 
From my experience, Antecs are really quiet units. I've worked with at least 3+ Antec Earthwatts units, both the Delta-manufactured and the Seasonic-manufactured units, and both were not only solid, but extremely inaudible PSUs. I've had my fair share with PSUs (OCZ, PCP&C, Enhance, Cooler Master, etc..) but the quietest has to be Antec.

Seasonic built units are usually not only reliable, but pretty quiet.

If you pickup a fanless PSU, be sure to put 1 or 2x 120mm quiet fans to push the warm air out of your case.

Well right, but of course the corsair is also seasonic so thats a moot point. I think corsair probably has the better service. Im just trying to decide if the $15 difference is worthy to go with the corsair that is 100 watts higher or just go for the cheaper and lower wattage xfx. : / I can never decide on these things.

A Seasonic X 560W powers my rig below and I’ve yet to see the fan turn on, even during heavy gaming sessions. High efficiency PSUs have little heat to dissipate.

I have a corsair cx500 and tx650(side by side in the same system)and they're both quiet but i have to actually look at the 650 to see if the fan's turning and that psu will be 3 years old next march.The voltage stays constant at 12.13 no matter what the load on the 650 but it fluctuates on the 500 between 11.90 and 12.06 so spend the extra money
 
I run a x-400 seasonic fanless. The top of the thing barely gets warm I could run it without a single fan in the case period if I wanted to. Of course I am not pulling but about 1/4 of it's rated power either. But yeah you asked for cheap...so I don't see those being a option. What is your pricerange? Any larger psu with a smart fan that only comes on under high loads is going to be very quiet or silent unless you are keeping it stressed.
