Most RELIABLE (long-term) DVD-R media?

I'm running out of discs and am planning a new purchase of a big spindle of DVD-Rs.

I've used the following:
- Princo white top 1x (2x), $0.80 from PC Club. Mostly compatible. Worried about long term performance.

- Verbatim 2x. These seem to work well but are pretty expensive anywhere I look.

- ESBuy 4x house brand. They were cheap at the time but not so competitive anymore. Seem to work well.

I'm currently looking at the following brands, and have checked with DVDRHELP but a couple don't show up, or have limited reviews. Most importantly there is no data showing long term reliability.

So far these brands look like good candidates:

- BeAll (OEM for Samsung). Meritline touts these as top of the line, and the 1x/2x are not too badly priced. 4x are a lot more expensive.
- Ritek. All around great reputation and reviews, and cheaper than BeAll
- TDK. Best reviews but very very expensive.
- Verbatim. I've had good experience with these but they are pricey.

There's also a couple newer brands that are VERY cheap but I don't know about their manuf. processes:
- Matrix (~ 80c a disc) for 4x
- DVDPro (~ $1.00 a disc) for 4x

If anyone can provide a better resource than DVDHelp / VCDHelp (the site only lists compatibility, not reliability, and searching the forums yielded nothing) I'd appreciate it.

Apparently, my reading comprehension circuitry was down for maintenance earlier because there's plenty of posts at DVDHelp forums. Bah. I'll still take any suggestions though.

personally i would look for any media that says made in japan

i tried hypermedia that was ok

tried maxell at 2x but only really burns at 1x

tried apple branded media made in japan burns at 2x plays without error

TY makes dvd media as well as cdr media

Well one way to sustain the performance of your discs, if you write movies, is only write 1x DVD. Don't try to write 2x on a princo, and I personally only write 1x on a Ritek 2x. My 1x princos are about 8 months old and still work flawlessly, where others have had problems after 6 months or less.
