Looking for opinions on what the most realible EIDE drive is out there today.

The drive will be used in an 1U height Proliant DL320 G1 rackmount server. We are just replacing a disk that has become too small with a larger one.

Maxtor for their excellent RMA process.

that statement doesn't bode well for reliability, but.... thats..nice

bottom line is get an enterprise drive with a 5yr warranty or just pick a major brand and take a chance, everyone is going to give you a different opinion on what they've had good/bad luck with.

Whichever drive is available in the capacity you want for the least amount of money. I have used, at some point, hard drives from all the major brands. I used them for years and years and have had a grand total of one go bad and need replacement. It's all luck, so IMO it really doesn't matter what brand you buy. If reliablility is such a big concern, you wouldn't really be looking at IDE in the first place. You'd be getting SCSI.
