Well I know just about all the names in HSFans, but I'd like to hear the results of what others are using to make a choice for my next HSF.

Right now I'm using a Thermaltake CL-P0200 Silent 939.

http://www.thermaltake.com/product/cooler/retail/cl-p0200/cl-p0200.asp

I've been wondering seeing how people are getting good overclocks on the Opty 165 with good stepping that doesn't seem to need much voltage if my TT HSF will be just fine, or I should consider another.

Anyhow do tell what you use.

THANKS

I had one of those a while back. It is OK, but it is nowhere near top of the line.

You won't hurt anything by trying it. If your temps are out of hand you could upgrade then.

I just bought the Zalman CNPS9500 AM2 for 69.99+tax with instant $10 off and a $20 AR (ends Jan 6) at CompUSA if that interests you. It's bascially $45.01 in NYC which is cheaper than what you can get from NewEgg with their s/h. The reviews are not bad at all. It is an NVidia Edition with a black/dark gray chrome coating/finish and copper inside at 530mg weight. Only thing I don't like is the green LEDz which I may swap later. Comes with FanMate2. The price/product is hard to resist.

It's compatible with socket AM2/754/939/940 if you wanna change platforms later.

Just my 2 cents,

Budget = Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro

Performance = Tuniq Tower 120 (I think this works) or Thermalright Ultra120 (I know this works with the right adapter).

I also use a Big Typhoon on a 165. My load temperatures stay under 42C at 1.425V. The stock fan is pretty weak, so putting something more powerful on it would probably reduce temperatures even further. The Tuniq Tower is slightly better, but I don't know if those are widely available yet.

I think the stock AMD 4-pipe HSF is pretty damn good! My 165 @ 300x9 runs 55-58c under load with that and cheapo thermal compound.

Of course I want more, soon as I get some more AS5 I'll be bolting on my Big Typhoon.

I use the Infinity. My chip hits 60C load, but is stable there. One core is 60-63, the other is 50-53. I think I have a bad IHS mount, so I don't blame the Infinity for it.

It really is inaudible though. I am not sure if I'd put up with much noise for another 200Mhz, even if the 3.0Ghz mark is so sexy.

Noctua NH-U12
Gigabyte G-Power Pro
Tuniq Tower
Scythe Ninja
Ultra 120
TT Sonic Tower
and now the Zalman 9700

All of these are great HSF
