Most painless way to add on hard drive?

Currently I have a 13gb hard drive using two partitions..I just got a 30gb hard drive, and would like to combine my original two partitions as one, and essentially have this new hard drive fill in the role of my original second partition.

I have partition magic..so should I just put the new hard drive in, copy my current D: drive onto it, then wipe out D:, combine the two partitions, and then set my new hard drive to E:? Will I run into any problems there?

Partition Magic, based on the version will combine the two together (I believe) without you having to move anything off. Even if it doesn't, just cut and paste your 2nd partition to the new drive then use Partition Magic to combine the originally partitioned drives together.

Hope this helps...

Do you run xp or 2k? If so you can merge the two you have already I think...

admin tools, comp management, disk management, then go from there.

Make sure your data's safe before you do anything.

Very good advice. While Partition Magic is supposed to be able to merge partitions without loss of data, you shouldn't bet any of your sensitive data that it will do so without error. It's easy to fix a corrupted OS (reinstall), but not so easy to re-download all those mp3s and all that pr0n.
