this is mine

1. Nicolas Cage
2. Leonardo DiCaprio
3. Johnny Depp
4. Tom Cruise
5. Ben Affleck

1. Julia Roberts
2. Angelina Jolie
3. Helen Hunt
4. Jennifer Aniston
5. Jennifer Connelly

EDIT: to clarify. overrated: (the way i'm using it) the actor or actrss is not deserving of the hype they get. i.e. j depp can be a good actor, i didn't say he wasn't, just not as good as all of what people make hime out to be

No way is DiCaprio overrated. Try not to think about his portrayal in the media for a second (ie, partyboy and heartthrob to young teenage girls) and just consider his acting. He is a damn good actor. Same for Johnny Depp.

Have to say that DiCaprio is one of the better actors in hollywood, underrated if anything. Same with Johnny Depp, just not as much.

The other three on the list should be there though, expecialy Tom Cruise.

Several dont belong on that list.
There are probably many better actors if you based it on acting alone...but these guys add their personality to the movie
ultimately their job is the entertain us which many on that list have the ability to do very well.

No kidding!

Nicolas Cage
I'll admit that I actually like Nicolas Cage. I think he's a pretty good actor in that he's been able to succeed in a variety of roles. Yes, his mannerisms carry over from role to role, but I find them genuine and entertaining so it doesn't bother me.

Leonardo DiCaprio
Can't stand the guy.

Johnny Depp
I'm not a huge fan or anything, but I do think he's a pretty remarkable actor. Watch Pirates and then watch Donnie Brasco.

Tom Cruise
He's the uninteresting version of Nicolas Cage. Same mannerisms movie to movie, except his wore thin quite some time ago.

Ben Affleck
Please... merely putting him on this list suggests the guy is at least an actor. Incorrect.

Julia Roberts
FINALLY I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!!! I got sick and tired of her AGES AGO.

Angelina Jolie
Sorry, have to disagree there. Total hotness. I'd watch a movie of Angelina Jolie watching a movie of someone else watching paint dry.

Helent Hunt
Indifferent. I thought she did well in her major flicks, though.

Jennifer Aniston
Have to totally disagree. I think she's one of the more remarkable actresses of today. Watch Derailed and Good Girl and tell me she can't act.

Jennifer Connelly
Indifferent. Haven't seen enough, though I recall enjoying her performance with Crowe.

Um... Ashton Kutcher....

Goes without saying. Valiant effort in Butterfly Effect, but I just don't see him being taken seriously in the near future. He might be best served by laying low for a couple years, putting on some weight (he still looks like a 17 year old boy), and taking some tough roles.

I suppose if you know someone that thinks he's a good actor, then he could be considered "overrated". Thankfully, I know none of these idiots.

I think some people are confusing "overrated" with 'bad."

I thought Tom Cruise was pretty good in Born on the 4th of July. In fact, most of the guys on that list are wrong. Depp and DiCaprio have turned in great performances as well as doing straightforward blockbusters.

As for the women - Jennifer Aniston was outstanding in Good Girl. I agree with Julia Roberts though.

No doubt. He did a phenominal job in that movie. I think his "overratedness" is stemming from movies produced in the last few years, though. I think the second MI marked his slow trend downward.

I think his overratedness is due to peoples perception of him and scientology. people can't seem to separate the two. hes been a scientologist for ages now, and only now are people calling into question his overratedness, just because he jumped on an effing couch.

Never saw the 2nd one to be honest - I think he has the potential to deliver more great performances but maybe he's happy enough doing the MI type stuff and acting by numbers

It was a LOT more than an "effing couch". Let's call a spade a spade. The man went on every show he could get booked on blabbing about his religion, personally insulting colleagues, and making a spectacle of his love life.

If you think it was all just about a couch, you missed out on quite a bit.

His religion could have been anything - Scientology, Christianity, or whatever. Americans DON'T want to be preached to by actors - about ANYTHING.

Best answer, hands down.

However, if I had to choose one, it would definitely be Edward Norton.

I'd have to disagree with this one, too. I think Edward Norton is an incredibly dynamic actor. PvLF, Primal Fear, Rounders, and Fight Club all come to mind. He's run the gammut and has a track record of delivering (almost) every time.

Don't forget his performance in American History X either. The movie wasn't the best, but I thought he was pretty funny in Death to Smoochy.

I kind of like N. Cage, but I saw Lord of War and cried it was so bad.

Id still wacth anything Julia Roberts is in, I hate Angelina (Fugly), and I dont know if I would call Jennifer Connely overrated. I havent seen enough of her stuff to make an assesment like that.
