The only thing sadder than the fact that people voted for Bush is the fact that one person voted for Clinton.

Most Americans wouldn't know true opression if it walked up and bit them in the ass.

We talking about leaders who have threatened or removed freedoms in general, or those of Americans?

The poll is about current "rulers" (well saddam isn't current anymore:p) and their "oppression" of the people they rule.

There should be a distinction between Saddam Hussien and the Baath Party. The Baath Party is quite widespread in the Muslim world and doesn't endorse the methods employed by Saddam Hussein, Saddam used Josef Stalin as an inspiration for his governing style/philosophy, not the Baath Party. The Baath Party is primarily concerned with Uniting the Muslim world into a kind of United States configuration(not necessarily with same Liberties and what not, more of a territorial and political unity).

Here's a little write up on it.

Here's the Official website(afaik) This link works, but I was unable to get into the English(or any non-Arabic) sections, Google also seems to lack the proper Translator. I assume it's the "Official" website.

I'm not a Baathist, I just don't think guilt by association is a good reasonable way to form opinion. :)

Notice my "distiction" of "Iraqi" Baath party - you know the ones Saddam controlled;)
