So this weekend when I was at a basketball camp some dogs broke into our chicken coops and killed 5 ducks, 2 rabbits and 30 chickens. By brother was home alone on friday and went to check on them and he found all the cages ripped open and all the animals were torn apart, none eaten. He then spent 3 hours picking up and burying chickens and body parts. My family then spent the weekend securing the other chickens and cleaning up all the blood on everything. What made it hard though was we raised all those animals from babies and they were our pets, we had names for every one of them.
We are pretty sure it was our neighbor's pitbulls that did it because they wander around our house now and then and can be vicious towards animals and even attacked our dog once and because we found a chunk of black fur in one rooster's mouth. What is amazing though is the dogs were able to get into an area with two gates and one 6 foot wall built into a rockery and then into individual pens which were all sturdily made.
When we went to talk to our neighbors they were home but it looked like they were cooking meth(I live in the woods in western Washington state meth houses are a dime a dozen). We don't really want to press charges or get the cops involved but we don't want any thing else being hurt by those dogs. Any advice would be great.
Cliffs
1. dogs kill most of our chickens
2. probably our neighbors pitbulls
3. those neighbors now seem like they might be cooking meth
Update: will file an anonymous report and see if the police find anything they think is suspicious.
