Since there's really no "gaming" forum, i wanted to see the types of games that people really enjoyed throughout their lives. Games that you felt really should have deserved a little more love, and perhaps a current gen Remake. From Console, or PC. Can be one game, or a universe!

Anyway, in no particular order!:

-Warlords 3 (PC). I really remember enjoying these games back in the day. I'm not so sure these games are that obscure, but since i played them in my youth, and have not seen a good one in forever, i really felt these should make the list.

-Battle Realms (PC). Just remember having fun playing this with my friends back in the day! Good RTS stuff.

-Green Dog: The Beached Surfer Dude! (Genesis). The title says it all, i think. The music was epic by the way. Thank god for youtube.

-Atomic Runner (Genesis). For some reason, i just remember the music in this game, and getting my ass kicked over and over.

-MDK2 (Dreamcast). Just a fun game. Good game mechanics, and pretty funny if i remember correctly.

-Three Dirty Dwarves (Saturn). Surprisingly, this game was probably one of my favorite Saturn games that we owned.

-Toy Commander (Dreamcast). Great multiplayer game...

-Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast). Yes, i'm still waiting for a sequel to my favorite Dreamcast game...

Thought up a few more...

-Poy Poy (Playstation). Ridiculous multiplayer fun. Simplest game, but pretty damn fun.

-Snow Board Kids 2 (N64). Another great multiplayer game. Fun stuff.

-Armed & Dangerous (Xbox). Shark guns...weird, weird game.

I know some of these are probably more obscure than others, and it turns out a lot of them are console games, but i still like the idea! Please share. Would be interested to see some other games. Might even jog my memory of games i had played before, and forgot about!

I love Imperium Galactica 2. It held me over for many years between Master of Orion 2 and Galactic Civilizations 2.

Warlords Battlecry 1, 2, and 3.

I dont consider MDK2 to be obscure, just that nobody talks about it now.
If we go by that standard I'd also like to mention Anacronox, Septerra Core, and Sacrifice.

Silver is another one. It was on Dreamcast but I played the Windows version. Also Grandia 2, which is quite obscure on Windows.

I dont really know whats obscure by todays standards since pretty much everything is readily available if you really want it. Pretty much any JRPG outside of Final Fantasy and maybe Tales series could be considered obscure.

Septerra Core - PC - never understood why there weren't more games like this on PC

Nocturne - PS2 - This is a tedious but gem of a game with a pretty cool storyline (made by the Persona folks).

SimTower - PC (I don't know why but I played the hell out of this.

A lot of people found it to be strangely enjoyable. You arent alone.
I have no idea how popular SimAnt was. Probably less.

Honestly, i was just going for games that deserve some props that rarely get talked about. Perhaps something that you would enjoy witnessing a sequel to in this generation. That's why i really enjoyed the dreamcast as a system, it was flooded with unique and fun games that you didn't really see for awhile. Though i will credit xbox live/app stores for really helping to bring a much greater scale of fun to gaming...

SimAnt, that was a weird one alright.

Perhaps i should have used under appreciated...

Heaven & Earth, Perfect General II, Abe's Oddworld series, Bad Day on the Midway, Connections, Spycraft: The Game, The Space Bar...

Just for some more examples of less known games I have, some not recommended:

Wolf, Total Distortion, Toonstruck, Re-Elect JFK, The Tone Rebellion, Thexder, War Wind, Sink or Swim, Norse by Norwsewset (Return of Three Vikings), Microcosm, Jewels of the Oracle, Command & Conquer: Sole Survivor, Darkseed, Aces of the Deep, The Madness of Roland, Mission Critical, Delta Force II, The Crystal Skull, The Psychic Detective...

I could get into less known titles... Lure of the Temptress, Shadowcaster, Lexicross...

Giants Citizen Kabuto was amazingly funny... I tried explaining this game to a friend the other day and just got weird looks...

SimAnt I played for HOURS on that game.

You know what game I played the hell out of that I haven't found anything similar to since then is the Master of Orion and Master of Orion 2... MOO3 was craptastic... If they re-made MOO2 with only changed it to update graphics and special effects I'd buy that.

Earth 2150 was ahead of its time, and a great game, but I don't think it ever captured much of an audience - and the sequel was comparably rubbish.
SimAnt wasn't obscure!

Right now I have Shadow Man that comes to mind (the original that is). I think it did get "some" popularity at the time of its release but that "died" fast. A sequel (Second Coming) was made for the PlayStation 2 (exclusive to it) but I never got to complete it (rented it only one time). It got good enough reviews and scores I believe, if memory serves me well. From what I can remember the sequel was pretty decent actually, but I think that the sequel got much less attention than the original.

The PC, Dreamcast and N64 versions of the first were great (PC and Dreamcast being the best ones) but really the N64 version was good nonetheless (often read and heard about how the PS1's version sucked really bad, I'd imagine due to the console's hardware limitations and how big the game "should be", but never saw that version for myself). I myself owned the Dreamcast version at the time, now I got the PC version, retailed boxed, but used (in good condition though). I wouldn't say, however, that despite it's somewhat "isolation" at the time that it was anywhere near under-rated. What happened, however, is that pretty soon after the initial good consensus about it faded away it kind of became forgotten (in a short period of time). That is of course until the PS2's sequel was released, when again the brand was rejuvenated for a short period... until once more it was forgotten.

The first game always fascinated me, it was gritty, it had good voice acting, great maps, good puzzle-solving, fun dungeons (temples, shrines, and the like). It felt pretty much like a game in the veins of Tomb Raider to me (quite darker though and with different game-play mechanics such as switching between Deadside and Liveside). Also, collecting all the dark souls and the "Cadeaux" (that's "Gifts" in French) scattered around in the game was a blast (not sure if I'd still do it today though, but back then I searched every single nooks and crannies to find every single one of them, and did so three times exactly). Everything about the game was memorable, in my opinion (including the soundtrack). All the voodoo themes, "the Five" (serial killers), Legion, Deadside, Mike's brother and Mike's memories (flash backs) tormenting him, the story overall (Mama Nettie, etc), the Asylum... oh man, good times.

I wish the first game could be "HD'ed", not a franchise reboot necessarily (although that could have potential, similarly to Tomb Raider and how it seems to have turned out pretty well, but such cases are very rare, don't get me wrong). I haven't installed my PC version in a long time, and I'm not sure if the game aged well but at the time it was a blast. The last time I've played it I think was probably around 3+ years ago or so. And, if not for Shadow Man another game that comes to mind is of course Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, never fail to mention that one in similar threads. It's an "obscure game", never got that much of attention (perhaps only initially, maybe the first month, but then pretty much forgotten), was massively under-rated (in my opinion!).

Nobunaga's Ambition. I've played it on DOS, SNES, playstation... It's a really good strategy game franchise. Although in the last few years KOEI seems to be letting the historical side slide a little, and is being kind of lazy making english versions :/
