Most metal song of all time?

This list is pretty good, but as I sit here thrashing to Dante's Inferno, I can't help but think that Iced Earth's 16-minute long epic of Hell has to be one of the greatest, most metal songs of all time. It never stops kicking ass.

I agree. If someone wants one song that best defines the whole broad genre, that would have to be it.

I enjoy Manowar, however, Manowar has a bit of cheesiness to it.
Battle Hymn and Fighting the World are 2 of my favorites from them.

I'd say it's impossible to declare a "most metal" song of all time.
Maiden, Slayer, Opeth, Death, Iced Earth, Emperor, Blind Guardian, and Carcass were all pioneers of their niche. They all have songs that could be considered "most metal."

Personally ... I'm gonna say "Blooodbath - The Soul Collector" is my "most metal" song. My reasoning is that song really packs a punch. It's an amazing example of masterfully played technical death-grind.

That being said, if I think about it again in 10 minutes, I might say "Black Rose Immortal" by Opeth, "Hell ain't a bad place" by Maiden, "Dark Medieval Times" by Satyricon", "Black Star" by Carcass, "The Years of Decay" by Overkill, etc etc etc etc ...

is the point of these threads to actually identify one song that everyone will actually agree is the number one whatever of all time???

does the type of metal matter? speed, thrash, 80's old school metal, hair metal, etc???

anyway, another vote for Iron Maiden (at least anything earlier than Powerslave)...but you really can't just pick one song...
