Most insane steering wheel peripheral ever.

Logitech® G25 Racing Wheel
Shifter module
Gas, brake, and clutch pedals
Power supply
Software CD-ROM
User documentation
1-year limited warranty

EDIT: That shifter module is probably a simple up and down thing, though, not slotted. I'm just guessing, though.

possible, but then why would they specify 6 speeds and a push down reverse?

Between this and Guitar Hero, you are paying more money for a fake car and guitar than you are for the real things once you factor in a TV, console, game, ect.

:p

Yeah the G25 is pretty nice.

Act-labs had an entire package like this quite a few years ago. Their stuff was pretty good. Perhaps the wheel isn't as good because it's like 7 years old, but their Shifter is excellent and actually shifts (you can get 5spd or 6spd inserts) instead of just up and down. And their performance pedals are pretty nice, and include a clutch. They were suppose to release new engines (board and connector) so you could use the same wheel with a PC and consoles, but they never did that.

Unfortunately, a few years back they pretty much dropped their wheel (Force RS), kept carrying the pedals and shifter as they work with other wheels, and now carry real auto accessories. WTF?? Why would it make sense for a company that makes game hardware decide they need to carry car accessories to rice out your car? I realize that was an exploding market a few years ago, but they were a little late to it, and why would someone order from them?? They should've stuck with wheels and whatnot, released an update version of their products, etc. Instead, we are stuck with drivers from 2005 (which won't ever get updated, so Vista is probably no go), which is bad when sometimes a utility is needed to add proper clutch and shifter support to games that don't natively support it (i.e. Logitech's software).

Different cars have different steering ratio - some change depending on traveling speed too. Having just 900 degrees isn't realistic enough :D
Polyphony should've made them make up to maybe 1500 degrees or something even more and then make each car have different steering characteristics within the game by programming the steering wheel feedback.

Wow. Did anyone bother to look at the Image Gallery? It clearly shows the shifting module. It's an actual stick shift wrapped in leather and attached to a console with some kind of selector knob, a D-pad, and a bunch of buttons. Intense.

Oh so sexy. I've been toying with the idea of getting one of those "GAMER XTREME!" chairs and building a frame around it to bolt my Logitech Force Pro GT to.

This new wheel is only $300 - if that shifter module actually has a pattern and isn't simply an up/down shifter (like the one on the Force Pro GT) then it's a steal. The old Act-labs system was like $500-600, if i remember right.

Need for Speed Pro Street would be amazingly fun with that wheel, shifter and pedals. It supports clutch!

Yep, that's got to be the baddest steering wheel I've ever seen for a PC/console. I've got to have it wireless though, or it's a no go for me. I hate having to deal with wires.

Indeed, it is badass on a level that the 360 wheel just cant even begin to touch. And I really dig the 360 wheel and all, but what I really want is a clutch and a shifter.

Now if they could get the shifter to grind the gears when you try to pop the clutch too soon, I'm sold.

Eh, in a racing game, if youre need more than a few dozen degrees, something is wrong.

Now all we need is a car simulator, and people could learn to drive stick, virtually anyway...

Gran Turismo calls itself "The Real Driving Simulator", not a racing game :)

I don't think they reach that level yet until they can simulate each car's steering correctly.

Yeah, but unless you're going to be doing 3 point turns at 10mph, you're not going to need to turn that much. I dont even know if theres a car that has 1500 degrees...thats like 2 1/2 turns each way...what would be the point of that when 99.99999% of the time youre not even turning the wheel a full revolution?

But anyway, steering should be a fairly simple thing to simulate, but I dont think theyve actually bothered with the steering ratios, especially if theyre variable.

There is no way a tiny little plastic shifter like that will be able to handle my shifting skills. :p Unless I'd be able to find a way to attach it to something thats bolted to the floor, or its insanely well weighted, using the shifter is going to cause me to flip my coffee table. And unless its up against a wall, I'll probably have kicked the pedals across the room after 3 shifts after slamming on the clutch.

You won't need a 'tough' shifting module. Real cars are tough because it's either connected directly to the gears or through a series of linkages. You'll adapt within seconds like the rest of the world.

well if your a real GT diehard, you'll have built a realistically mounted driving setup, complete with a display for a windshield and floor-mounted pedals. :p

One can dream. :p

Although one display for the windshield is being too modest.
