Most Graphically intense game for PC?

I have noticed that new video cards are hitting the market faster than games are. I read every month about the latest and greatest card and I have been thinking that there is a new card 5x more than a new game. With that being said, what is the most graphically demanding game out right now? The last games I have bought and played have been DAO (1) and Starcraft II, both games can be run maxxed out with the system in my sig with no degradation. In fact I can run DAO across 3 screens with eyefinity with no slow down. I ask because by todays standards my 5770 is not even entry level and I see these 400-500 buck cards and I asked myself WTH, what games need those? Or is it for running at insanely high resolutions?

Some of the first games that come to mind are cyrsis, and metro2033

metro2033 is a Dx11 game that is used in a lot of benchmarks.

metro 2033

the top end cards cater to the likes of professional 3d, high resolution gamers, eyefinity users, and 3d gaming users.

sorry but you are not maxing out many newer games in eyefinity with no slow down using a dual core cpu and single 5770. my gtx260 is stronger than your 5770 and even on a single monitor I have to turn down settings in many many games. and my dual core cpu killed me at times in some games such as Ghostbusters, Red Faction Guerrilla and GTA 4.

I am only running one game spanned across 3 screens, DAO.

I think its only DAO that he runs in eyefinity, I used to get a solid 60fps on a 4870 with 8xAA at 1920x1080, so I would find it possible to do it in eyefinity. SC2 runs pretty well maxed out on my 5770 as well, but I only play 1v1 or 2v2.

Metro 2033
Crysis with mods

Reason for those high end cards is for people that want more FPS out of games, multi display gaming, and 3D gaming.

Metro2033, especially in s3d.
Mafia 2 is up there but not quite as intense as Metro2033

Oh yeah Crysis 2, what a very impartial benchmark you managed to find.
instead of being a smartass, why don't you post some links showing the 5770 being faster? again you will find that in MOST cases the gtx260 is indeed a bit faster than a 5770.

This says the 5770 is faster over all resolutions and around 20 games. Personally I'd just have said "about the same speed", but that's me.

I'm not really sure how it ended up working out that way, because every benchmark I've seen shows the GTX 260 (the newer revision, at least) usually beating the 5770.

There is another one, 30 games or so and the 260 "wins" by 1.75% over all of them. However on quite a few cases bad drivers were blamed for the 5770's performance (it was after all just released). That seems reasonable as in some games the 5770 lost to the much slower 4850 while ending over 20% faster overall (clearly a driver issue). Without that I'm sure the 5770 would have "won" by a similarly tiny <2% margin.

Now? I'd be quite suprised to see a 260 beating a 5770 in most games but there won't be much between them either way.

It took the build in my signature to run Metro 2033 on ultra settings to get 50-60 FPS at 1920X1200. Awful game, though.

Some games I've seen often in benchmarks (but I've never bothered playing because my own hardware isn't up to the task) are Crysis, STALKER: Call of Pripyat, Metro 2033. On the strategy game side, Civilization V takes some serious graphical oomfph, and Shogun 2 isn't a slouch either.

But I wouldn't call the 5770 "not even entry level". If anything, it's quite a bit above entry level. Entry level (for gaming) is something like the 5670.

each to his own I guess
[both games can be run maxxed out] you do know games \ drivers nerf the settings depending on vid.card detected -right

-just saying

-stalker cop w\complete [ high res mod ],you could have issuse @ low @ 1920x1200 starting the game let along playing it.-with 580sli-1520 vram I can maintain 60fps BUT 570sli I could not so - not sure what PC games you have played.

-not to mention ARMA II\OA --I couldn't play it with gtx285 sli to the level fitting the game.-like - view distant to stay alive or to see while flying something at 400 mi. per hour.-with a 1500 meter view. lol.
-should say 1 shot\hit your dead in that game - people don,t come with power armor.so the more you can see , the longer you live.

I can't run Metro 2033 with everything turned up. Only SLI 580's have a chance of doing that on any decent rez. Tessellation and DoF are killer in that game.

that is the old 192sp gtx260. if you look at their newer reviews the gtx260 216sp is indeed a little faster than a 5770. yes I have the 192sp but mine is oced and is even faster than a stock 216sp gtx260 which is already faster than a 5770. so again MY gtx260 would be faster than his 5770.

btw this wasn't a pissing contest to say which was better. it was about the fact that I knew my card was slightly faster yet could not play many games without reducing settings.

WHY would they use an older 192 sp 260? It's the 216 sp version, the 192 sp version could barely keep up with a 4850.

This. The jump from DX10 to DX11 ruins most setups, even at 1080p. It's the only game I've played recently that I can't run at "max". Though I'm completely fine with the DX10 mode.
