Well, that's a 24" screen so it doesn't really fit in with your question. If you ask me, there aren't any "futureproof" 22" screens because they're all TN's. :p

But as far as inputs go, I would think that one with the Display Port would be the most futureproof.

A monitor is something that is likely to be a long term investment.

Just pick one that you like and has the features you want because unless OLED LCDs come out sometime soon and just absolutely blow every other LCD out of the water for a good price, any LCD is going to be future proof.

That being said, I think that you'll definitely want hardware 1:1 pixel mapping and something with good black levels and response time.

I linked the dell because of the available options on there. I'll just list them and see what you guys think.

1. HDCP --- necessary? What is it? Simple man terms. Some sites say that it eliminates reproduction of copyright material. Others say that it reduces distortion.

2. USB upstream and downstream ports on the monitor. The USB ports on the computer would do just fine, right? Unless there's something I'm missing with having ports on the monitor

3. HD ready... what is it?

4. HDMI -- necessary?

HDCP = High Definition Content Protection. It's really only applied in high def multimedia, namely BluRay and HD-DVD. I doubt you'll see HDCP on a regular DVD video.
