Good job, nothing wrong with being Indian and a doctor! It's a lot of fun; i love every minute of it! Well, this was the only avater that really suited me at the moment...with me embarking on the next stage of my life...like so many other indian daughters. I have succumbed to being a doctor at the moment...Not to say I don't want to be a doctor. I just don't want to be anything else more...I guess. By the way how did you guys figure I was indian...though it is almost true I am pleased that you guys guessed it. The name did it I am guessing?
I just found out a few weeks ago that folks in Europe NEVER work past 5pm...like in France its against their labor laws or something! Also, at work I recently wrapped up a huge interview project centered in Europe...and we were pushing deadlines to get it done before August because all of Europe seems to go on vacation for the ENTIRE MONTH of August! Definately not work-centric...IMHO 'Leftist' Europe is a lot more family-centric than the right-wing and Christian Coalition will ever be on this side of the pond...Originally posted by: TheeeChosenOne
Glad to hear you had fun--the European way!
The reason I say Europe is b/c in America, the culture has devolved to being ALL about work. No more time to enjoy the company of others--which, btw, is the mantra in Europe (even in the stodgy UK).
Hope this fun puts things into perspective about what is truly important in life sista.
Work to LIVE...........instead of Live to WORK!
Cheers!
Don't sweat it. My cousin just started his rotations and stuff in June (so this is his 3rd year I believe?) He also had cold feet after the first year but now he's so into it. Like get this...he's NEVER been a morning person. I've spent many weekends with him, and its his custom to stay up until 3am and then sleep through till 1 in the afternoon! Boy sleeps in a LOT. But his first rotation was OB/GYN. Some of my other cousins came to visit him in Chicago, where he took them out during the day (lots of walking, talking, sightseeing etc.--very tiring) and then dropped them off at the hotel at 7pm, then left to work his 8pm to 8am shift!!! Its easy for him now, I guess. And just a year ago he was thinking of quitting.Originally posted by: Kalpana
mdbound and noremorse: It is great hearing about those in the same plight as me. I believe I am getting cold feet now that med school is starting in two weeks. Also, I have all this time to think about the hectic life that I will be leading for..well the rest of my life..and I wonder if I made the right decision. At times I am super excited that I am going into medicine; and at other times all these doubts start creeping in. The bottom line is I want to be able to help people, and I hope I am meant to leave a mark in this world as a doctor. I am hoping I will love every minute of it too. I guess we will soon see.

What is it about blackouts and college students? I remember a blackout back in college, at about 11pm. All the people in the dorms just started to yell and scream and come out of their dorms. It was like a big bonfire scene, except with no bonfire. College students... heh.
