Have you considered eHarmony.com? You can probably get hooked up in about a week there.

Holy crap. Why would anybody pay that price for a book like that? They should just give it for free. It looks like it's basically like a whitepaper.. why would one buy that? lol.

Dell is good when it comes to price gouging though, well, so is pretty much every other similar company. IBM is by far the worst.

Are you always an idiot? It's not a Dell publication.

There are some market research reports that are like $5k, but they're usually 100 pages or so.

IDC could always be some kind of publisher that makes dell documentation or something, who knows, I did not bother to research, I just saw Dell and figured it has to do with dell products.

But who cares if it's dell or not, it's still ridiculous that it's that expensive for a silly document with info you can just find free.

It's ok to admit you have no idea what you are talking about, we won't look down on you.

When I went on a money raising round for my start-up I needed specific information for a specific market. $500 is virtually free for something you can quote in few slides. Unfortunately in my case it was $10k-12k for a market research, I ended up using one I already had (but couple a years older than I wanted). It looks much better to quote someone reputable than compile it yourself, and then explain where you got it from.

Quoting someone recognizable in the first place tends to save many awkward moments and generally gets treated as a fact, which is nice, as long as the info supports your point ;)

Serious question. You're talking about a start-up, which is a much more complicated endeavor, versus explaining a new Dell computer. What information could there be in those 4 pages that makes it worth $500?

I'd post what my publications are worth (from my work) and the pdf to said work, but I'd probably get fired. They are more than the links posted though by at least 1 order of magnitude and have about the same amount pages.

Lol at that ebay listing:
"(If the price seems a bit high I apologize but they just don't make'm like this anymore)"

They don't make them like that anymore because it sucks. A netbook is about the same speed. Maybe an iPhone 4.
