I hate this POS lens. We have one at work and it is simply impossible to use autofocus at f/1.2. It's got so much focus shift that you never get a clear shot. Does look nice when you nail it though. We got one at work last fall.

I think that's the first time I've heard POS used in the same sentence as 50mm f/1.2L. Usually, people are referring to the Nifty Fifty when they talk about POS AF.

That thing is just ridiculous.....

Oh and to answer the question,I used a friends Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens and I felt like a king ....for a little bit anyways....😛

Only used the lenses that I own, and the two most expensive are my Tamron 200-500mm ($850) and my new Sony 70-300mmG ($799, though I paid less). Eventually, I'll work into Zeiss territory for around $1200, but that won't be any time soon!!

It's amazing what quality glass can do in comparison to the cheap stuff though. Of course, it's also amazing what cheap glass can do under the right conditions! One of my favorite photos was shot with a $25 lens. 😉

Wow, you can see the cells in her arm pit!

For me, the most expensive lens was a research grade Olympus petrographic microscope at ~$30,000. Otherwise the Nikkor Micro 105 VR is most expensive glass I've used though if I adjust for inflation the Tamron 500mm cat might be more expensive in today's dollars.

I agree that the 1.2 is the most difficult lens to use of all of the above. It really requires thought and planning, but in low light situations, it is very capable.

The DOF for most AF settings is extremely shallow, but that can be offset by manually closing the f/stop. It can also be used to create some interesting effects. It is not a lens for the PaS user.

In real terms, probably the telephoto zoom my old man has for his OM-2, or some of his Nikonos V lenses.

Haven't used anything more expensive than the 80-200mm F2.8 on my D80.
