So which computer power supply above rated 500Watt is the most efficient? My OCZ 520Watt Powerstream SLI spews out fairly warm to hot air, but the fans are not running that fan fast plus it is just dual 80mm.
My brother's Seasonic (I think it is 500W rated don't know the model) runs fairly cool, but has a 120mm. It is also sitting on shelf and not in a computer case. Yes he leaves his mobo and stuff out on the shelf.

Anyways he says his OCZ 520Watt Powerstream is much hotter than his seasonic.
So i'm looking for the most efficient one to reduce heat generation etc.

Getting past 85% efficiency at 50% load takes money that will not sell in this market.

The only thing you need to understand about 80+ is that companies send there PSU`s to them to be spec`d.

It is always a red flag IMO when a company used the 80+ website as the sole reason to purchase a PSU!

Most companies submit there PSU`s ro 80+.
There are quite a few top companies that do not need to submit there PSU`s.
There is alot more to purchasing a PSU than just the ER rating.

On the other hand you will find that all PSU`s produced after July 1st, 2006 have top quality CAP`s.
We have been seriously reading all comments from most of the online websites and have determined that we will be using mid level to high quality CAP`s in all our power supplies.
To and including the TEAPO brand of CAP`s.

Also if any PSU bought after July 1st has the newer CAP`s in it and it goes bad we will also replace any computer equipment that also goes when the PSU goes.
That is how confident in our product we have become!

I will be around. Feel free to PM me if you have any issues.
Thank You!!

Hmmm intresting. Unfortunately there isn't some review that actually tests the main PSUs that people are buying. I'm guessing the bit of people who know about computers and build high performance rigs go with Silverstone, PCPowercooling, OCZ, Seasonic, and a few other brands. I noticed that OCZs GameXStreame line has a claimed value of: High efficiency
80% @ 115V (Typical load)
83% @ 230V (Typical load)

I would love to see a review of these PSUs and their efficient and heat output. :)

That 80plug.org link doesn't seem to have a lot of common brand power supplies except for Seasonic and Silverstone. Or it is because not a lot of PSUs were tested or not a lot of PSUs received the 80plus award.

Thx for the link though.

Is this marketing for Antec or are you suggesting 80Plus be ignored :D

SLI certed is a marketing ploy also, because many uncerted PSUs will support SLI or CrossFire.

Are you going to be following me around AntecTechLevel4.? Your using the default Avatar for spammers.
I hope your beancounter engineers don't undercut the product that Seasonic or CWT can provide.
You guys are still a rebrander, not a producer of goods, so don't $queeze your providers. ;)

GalbanizedYankee asks-- Are you going to be following me around AntecTechLevel4.?

When I signd up for these forums I donot believe I saw any rule stating people could not post in certain threads where you - GalvanizedYankee post.

I have seen people get banned for harrasement. I would think you could be more discreet in your harrasement of both Antec guys.

I am perplexed why you insist on harrassing those who say good positive things about Antec PSU`s.

People who like the Antec brand can post that they like that brand of PSU.

In fact I would surmize that the complaint`s about Antec as a PSU are way over blown by the few who have used them compared to the many who have had no issues.

I would say Antec sells more PSU`s than all the companies you endorse put together.

Which would mean - percentage wise Antec`s are just as good as any other brand of PSU.

Whether both Antec guys are real or not thats not even the issue.
The issue is they both have as much right as you do to post on these forums.

People who use the Antec product should be able to post without being flamed because they happen to like the product.

I`m not a compete idiot. Parts are still on backorder!

all this means is there are going to be a lot of RMAs. If you're such an advocate of voicing your opinion, why are you shooting down his? Take note to the smileys next to every line in his post. This means it was not meant as harrasment. Maybe you should read a couple of his threads, you might learn something. :D

On topic, seasonics also have one of the best depreciation curves out there. They will last at spec for a long time.

Ah intresting review. I didn't realize there were Zalman PSUs until i saw that reivew.

Zalman are FSP, as are Verax, Conrad, AOpen, FSP, Fortron, SPI, Powertech, PowerMAN, Sparkle, XClio, OCZ and a few others.

ALL the Zalmans are solid units, while some of the FSP lower end units can be mediocre.

Zalman takes the FSP and mods it to it's liking, mainly cooling and case. The board and virtually all the rest is pure FSP.

I can't afford to review PCP&C, but I have the Silverstone ST75ZF and ST56ZF. ST85ZF and "Element" 500W are coming up. Also have an Enhance 80-plus 400W pending.

GameXstream should be done this week if my O-scope readings on the Epsilon 600W match what I found with the OCZ.

I test at 115V. So you'll see worst case scenario efficiency. I have a variac so I can test at 230V, but I don't see the point. I'd rather just test worst case scenario, although I might do a "tutorial" that shows why 230V units are more efficient or are available with APFC while 115V models may not be to help clear up some of the confusion and mis-information I see regurgitated in the forums.
