I'm a fatty that's trying to be less of a fatty and need to buy new sneakers.. My sneakers seem to have a life expactancy of only like 3 months - the inner cloth part always seems to shred on me.. My current pair of New Balances shred so much that plastic sticks into my heal all the time.. I need something that'll last a while for someone as big as me (200-250 pounds).. I plan on running and walking in them but will not be running any marathons.. I've tried sketchers (not very good support, heals broke off) and New Balances (the inner cloth ripping/exposing plastic has happened to me twice).. Thanks for any info!

Sounds like your shoes are a half size too big, if the heel part shreds. That's usually from your heel not being in your shoe properly, and when you walk, it lifts up and rubs against the inside heel part of your shoe. I had that happen before. Whatever you buy, make sure they fit snugly.

that being said, I personally recommend Nike Shox.

I would say get Doc Martens except for the running bit. Mine have lasted me 4 years and I still wear them every day no problem. Best shoes I ever bought.

I agree about their durability... I've had my Docs for going on 6 years or so and they still look great. Not the best choice for running, though. :)

I never thought of that.. I mean, my sneakers tend to fit a bit lose but they're either a bit loose or too tight.. I guess I should be leaning towards "too tight" :) Thanks for the info.. I'll look into the Nike Shox - as long as they're not too "loud" I'll give em a try..

Thanks again
P.S. I LOVE doc mart's - been wearing them for like 7 years (not the same pair, mind you)..
