I voted for Dallas, but Houston and New Orleans are definitly scary. New Orleans probably IS thw worst, except its too small of an area. Dallas is more wide-spread havoc.

WTF? Really? I always thought Dayton was a nice town... Well, I was in Kettering/Beaver Creek, but everyone always told me we were in Dayton.

No dude... Dayton is ghetto through and through.

Funny that Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnatti and Cleveland make the lists. I love Ohio.

Dude dayton is so freaking ghetto, I'm scared to drive down Downtown in broad daylight.

West Dayton is very bad and East Dayton is not much better. I used to work in downtown Dayton and I can attest to the fact that it can be very dangerous at 3rd & Main during the day. The suburbs are nowhere near as dangerous as Dayton City proper.

Perhaps. I remember someone telling me a story about how he knows a state trooper and they refuse to go in a certain section of the Flint area without lots of backup. Supposed to be a really rough area. This was several years ago when I heard that story.

Tampa's #9?!?!?!?

I wonder what this is actually based on.

I mean.. There's only ONE SECTION of town I feel "unsafe" in.

St. Pete, on the other hand, gives me the creeps. NOT EVEN ON THE LIST. And on the Metro Area list, St.Pete helps bump Tampa down to #25. WTF!?!? Whenever I turn on the news, there's someone shooting at cops and vise versa IN ST. PETE!

In Tampa we just have drunks driving through Adult Superstores.

And then there's Miami...#23???

Someone's on drugs. That's just b-ass-ackwards!

thats cause you can be killed easily by some old fart stepping on the gas instead of the brakes.

ROFL we had 8 murders 2 nights ago XD actually its typical to have about 2 mob beatings of the mentally ill in the summer but lately there have been way too many to even report. milwaukee is actually the nations largest distributer of drugs because mitchell int'l doesn't check private planes and security is crap.. not to mention so much is un reported or unlisted but as long as your there during the day depending on the area its ok the total murders so far i belive is about 88-93

i live in seattle and if you think seattle isn't safe, please try the other cities on the list...

also seattle /= tacoma, tacoma is a more unsafe, but still not as bad as the others on the list...

just curious, but where do you live in seattle?

Dallas is #5, even over Houston (#10). Dallas has one of the lowest ratios of police to population of any large city in the country. Few police, lots of criminals, high murder rate. You're more likely to be murdered in Dallas than in NYC or LA.

*edit*
Dallas has Highest Crime Rate in the nation for the 7th CONSECUTIVE year, and 2nd Highest Murder Rate in the country!

I don't know the criteria used in the Op's original study, but the only place "more dangerous" is Philly, #1 Murder rate in the US!

So, of the Overall 281 Metropolitan Areas, Louisana has 5 spots out of 25. On top of that, every area of Louisiana is covered by that list. Looks like we are the most dangerous state!

Muahahaha
