The would is devious - it hits a place with plenty of small bones, and to put them all back in order would be a feat.
I don't think she will ever walk without a limp
 
This reminds me of one time when we were goofing off back in high school during track team practice. One of the sprinters grabbed a shotput, took a running start and heaved it without looking downfield. Turns out there was a guy downfield. He looked up in time for the put to hit him in the bicep. Could have been nasty.
