Most comfortable casual/walking shoe that isn't ugly, tacky, or outdated?

Bought me some Vans, from the Vans Outlet Store. Look good and feel good, though I did put in my orthodic inserts. Not sure how comfy they'd be without them.

Born shoes are my favorites nowadays. They are incredibly comfortable, available in a variety of attractive styles, and cost a fraction of what I regard as comparable shoes (Mephistos, for example).

hm. not strictly a walking shoe, possibly outdated (though I'd argue timeless?) .. Clark's Wallabees for a moccasin, or the desert trek for an oxford?

The cushioning in basketball shoes (as an example) is too stiff for walking for longer periods of time. It's great for supporting the foot during the rigorous footwork of basketball, but you can get sore feet after a while.
