Most android tablets will not stay charged when plugged in & used.

Chuwi HI8 Dual boot W10 / KitKat- Comes with a 2A wall charger. If battery is at 100% and you keep it plugged in and try to play a game, it will drop despite being plugged in. I do not have any charger greater to try, but it will not work plugged into a pc either.

Vulcan Omega W10 tablet- Also comes with a 2A charger and is among the worst charging ever! It takes all day to fully charge and does not make any difference plugged in or not, the battery still discharges when in use?

Verizon Elipsis 7 - Charger is not marked but will charge fast, however when plugged in, and used it will not charge, it just stays the same, as soon as you sleep it, the charging is awesome.

Apple iPad 4th gen - Was at 4% when I purchased it back in 2013, and not only did it charge super fast, but it continues to charge fast even during a major iOS update when plugged into wall charger.

I am failing to understand this concept, sometime batterys gets low and you need to plug it in and use it at the same time, is this not important?

So three super cheap, low quality android tablets (the most expensive in your list is $89) versus an iPad that still sells for $300+ four years after its release (i.e. not a super cheap, low quality tablet) is a valid comparison?

Try comparing with a decent Android device closer to the same price range as the iPad and you'll have a more valid and equivalent example to show that most good Android tablets WILL stay charged when plugged in and used. My original 8GB Nexus 7 (2012) that cost about $200 new four years ago (when the iPad 4 cost $500-$700 depending on options) still charges just fine while in use and stays charged for several days under light use of book reading and occasional web browsing.

Fairly certain my 2013 nexus 7 will gain a charge while in use. It's very old at this point and was never really an expensive tablet. I think it's a considerably better tablet than it's price indicated at the time though.

My Shield charges while I use it. Of course it's not a cheapo tablet.

I don't see why you'd compare cheap tablets to an expensive unit. As well as testing three and proclaiming it's "most".

My Galaxy Tab S 9.7 charges no problem while used and stays charged.

This broken logic is what drives a lot of people to Apple in the first place.

That's true. I know someone who came back from a business trip with a China Galaxy Note clone a couple years ago. He was saying he has "just as good a phone for way cheaper".

I was skeptical since I could immediately notice that it was slower and more bloated than even Touchwiz.

Less than a year later, he had an iPhone.

I charge my 2013 Nexus 7 to 100%, unplug it, and close the cover. I come back four hours later and it's still at 100%. Granted, it's a Nexus, so no bloat (unless you count Gapps) churning in the background. If you do your homework and spend a reasonable amount, you can get an Android device that is every bit as good as Apple's overpriced devices, and sometime better. Is the OP trolling?

yea I'm not sure why OP is expecting a 2 amp charger to break the laws of physics and do both the charging power of a 2 amp charger PLUS full power the computer it powers.

This isn't like your laptop PSU, dude. There is no overhead room.

First and foremost, not trolling, I am brand new to android devices, but have been here a very long time. I do not own the ipad anymore but I failed to look at the amps on the charger for fair comparison.

What my question is, why would a better spec'd charger not work? I am only assuming, the manufactures cut costs by including an under spec'ed charger thinking most people will charge overnight. Why else would they make the tablet hardware so it can't charge while in use? This does not make sense. The Verizon elipssis 7 was a middle line $229 tablet new, and was fully featured when launched. Granted it is now stone age! It does not charge wile in use either.

So to recap, what reason would a more powerful charger not work?

My older android devices, like the OG Motorola Droid, barely maintained charging while in use. I used to use it as my cars GPS as it was the only android device at the time that would at least maintain while charging. All my other devices would drain, slowly, but drain nonetheless.

Because the hardware that determines the rate and duration of charging is in the tablet or phone itself. For example, some ipads ship with a 10W or 12W charger because they have larger batteries and the charging hardware to take advantage of them. You may also use that same charger to charge your iphone, but it won't charge any faster than it did with the 5W charger that ships with iphones. That's because the iphone is designed to take advantage of no more than 5W of charging power.

Mfrs dont want these things to last more than a few yrs

Being able to plug it in and use it would extend the lifespan too much

You are supposed to buy a new tablet not keep using the same one
