I just started using it as a program launcher, still need to delve deeper into the more advanced features.

Check this guy out for some good video tutorials.

Everyone seems to rave about it, but I never could get into using Quicksilver. I usually have open the apps that I want open, and if I want to open another, I don't mind taking the additional 1-2 seconds to open it from finder or the dock.

I know there are additional plugins and whatnot, but I am used to my workflow in my applications, and am reticent to relearn them all using quicksilver.

Yeah Quicksilver is the best. It's useful for just about anything you need to do on a Mac (at least it has been for me). And I keep learning new things that it can do.

I've always used Launchbar and loved it. What does Quicksilver do that Launchbar can't? I really just love being able to hit a key combo, type a few letters, and launch my program. I also use Launchy on all my PC's to get similar functionality.

Quicksilver is an entire reason to buy a Mac.
I like typing a couple of letters for a document, hit tab, m for mail, and type in the first few letters of the recipient and off it goes.
It learns what you use the most and starts putting that at the top of the list. Great programming, as non of the pc equivalents come close.

I agree, how awesome is it to compress a file, email it to one of your contacts with your favorite email provider all in a few key strokes.
