I am really allerigic to mosuqito bites (more than just a little bump) and when i get bitten, the whole area swells up and is really red.

I was outside today for about 10 seconds and I got a HUGE (like half dollar sized) welt on my jaw.

This normally wouldn't be a problem, but my wedding reception is on saturday and i don't want to have to wear a brown paper bag over my head.

Any ideas on what i should do to get rid of it fast?! 🙁

if it is still bad by friday, go to a doctor and ask for an anti-inflamatory like prednisone. they get rid of almost any swelling/redness

It happens to me too. I asked my allergist about it and he says theres no way to stop the swelling, they've tried for decades. It's supposed to protect you from malaria and other horrible diseases, which is why it comes on so strong.

just get some ammonia (active ingredient in the windex) or another basic solution. I've also used toothpaste as a cream. best of luck.

serious answer:

benydryl (however you friggin' spell it) to help with the reaction
and ice it to reduce the swelling
calimine lotion if it itches but it won't help with the size or color or anything

i'm really allergic to mosquito's too. i get the same quarter size welts whenever i get bitten. but they normally go away within a day. i don't think saturday would be an issue.

Aloe, Vitamin E, and Lavendar may all help reduce swelling and speed healing if you apply to the swollen area/bite.

i will really try the windex thing. i also will try taking a HOT shower, putting tooth paste on it and then a cold compress and mud mask.

no pics of the bite, thats gross. i dont even wanna see it
I was kidding about the windex (see My Big Fat Greek Wedding).
Windex might work keeping the bacteria off your bite, but I wouldn?t recommend it.

its easy, all you needs is a bottle of medical alcohol and and syringe...

alcohol to clear infection.....then syringe out the liquid in the swelling, bit like lancing a boil but more thorough 🙂

then more alcohol, finally some very good cold cream......oh, prolly best to take some really strong painkillers a little while before you start to help the pain, make sure you do it before the painkillers kick in tho, u need them to start working on the new pain as well as any current aches in ya body...lol

btw, it will hurt like, well, like words i cant type here due to filters...heh....but it works
just for the love of god make sure you dont accidently squeeze back in with the syringe, if u got an air bubble go in and you hit a blood vessel u might have a problem living...heh

edit: btw, like any form of unusual surgery, there is a small chance of leaving a small pit scar.......
