MOSFET logic gates

how do you build simple (AND/OR/NAND/etc) logic gates from mosfets? it can't be the same as for BJTs, since they draw current from the base. None of the 3 books I've looked at are any good - they describe mosfets and then proceed to use prebuilt gates. I want to know how to make those gates 😉

links to sites are fine 🙂

Why not just use CMOS logic IC's. You can get 4, 8 gates on a chip for less than a buck, and save on the external resistors, components as well.

cause I want to know. I dont know that there is any benefit - in real life, I doubt this knowledge would be useful. going below the gate level strikes me as not something commonly done, but it's still cool. I like learning 🙂

CTho9305, Look at page 328 in "The Art of Electronics" 1st edition (by Horowitz and Hill). Buy this great book if you are interested in this sort of thing, but get the 2nd edition.
